Safe: Asylum Harbour
We sailed into Bristol not knowing what to expect and when we arrived it was nothing but safe harbour and friendly faces. We were greeted by Andy Council and crew bringing the wonders of the underwater world to life on dry land, two massive seascapes that featured what else?
NO... not dinosaurs, SHRIMPS!!!
So we dropped anchor, set up shop, did a bit of sketching and spent a fair bit of time dicking around in preparation for the night.
When the shutters finally went up we had people just waiting to get in, the crowd seemed to top itself up several times throughout the evening, with fresh faces doing the rounds every hour or so. The atmosphere was charged and by the end of the night we had a free-for-all on our hands, with people grabbing pens and hitting the walls wherever they could find space. The Mob got the chance to catch up with friends and fans side by side and we can't say enough about the warm welcome from the good souls in Bristol.
It's one helluva tale to tell, so check out the Asylum Harbour Gallery and see for yourself.
Captain's Log: 9:21pm- I'm approached outside the venue and asked 'Are you Drew Millward?' Fucking Classic.
Nothing gets done with one pair of hands on deck, it takes the might of many...
Huge thanks to King of Paint for opening their doors to us, looking after us and raising the sails. Good people, good times.
To Posca who make sure the pens never run dry.
To Andy Council for help getting our shit together, for painting and drawing until we had to sticky tape his eyes back in their sockets, for roping Boswell & Sez into painting on the day and for the incredible print he did just for you lot on the night. (There are a few left and we'll get them up on the Mob shop in the next few days)
To Gavin Strange for rocking up, kicking ass and being a sport about the whole 'pink incident', RESPECT.
A special thanks to Ric & Linds at The Pure Gallery for trekking most of England to Mob Up on distant shores.
To Theo for being the best cabin boy we've ever sailed with
...And to all aboard.
Mob Rules, see you in Brighton.
